Statistics and evaluations
We use statistics on and evaluations of both its own activities and R&D in Norway. We use this to orient our instruments in an appropriate manner and to contribute to knowledge-based advice on research policy issues.
Our statistics are based on data from applications and granted projects in our portfolio. We generate statistics about the applicants, the research content and quality of the applications and how our investments in research and innovation develop over time and spread across many different aspects.
In our advice and analysis of the Norwegian research and innovation system, we use a number of data sources that are collected and made available through collaboration with external partners.
Evaluation activities provide a good basis for determining how to allocate research funding, and for offering guidance on research-related issues within the Research Council itself, to the institutions, and to the authorities. Evaluation activities are designed to enhance the quality, efficiency and relevance of the research sector.
